Highway agencies wanting to reduce vehicle-wildlife crashes are looking at the results of an international competition that designed wildlife crossing structures. Teams from nine countries designed wildlife crossing bridges that can be built over highways and integrated into the natural ecosystem.

Angela Kociolek of the Western Transportation Institute explains why wildlife crossings can save lives and money, and how the designs from the competition are being shared with transportation agencies.
